The Sutcliffe Research Group is part of the Department of Natural Sciences, within the Faculty of Science & Engineering, at Manchester Metropolitan University.
We are a team of scientists interested in the application of modern synthetic and analytical chemistries to current and emerging drug threats. The group, led by Dr Oliver Sutcliffe, has a diverse spectrum of backgrounds including chemistry, forensic science/chemistry, pharmacy and even veterinary medicine. Our principle areas of research are focused on illicit or abused drug analysis/detection and new psychoactive substances (NPS, formally known as "legal highs").
The research group also operates MANDRAKE, a scientific resource based at Manchester Metropolitan University, working in partnership with key stakeholders to facilitate rapid, robust and cost-effective chemical analysis for harm-reduction/intelligence sharing within the Greater Manchester Region. Follow MANDRAKE (@MANDRAKE_LAB) on Twitter or Instagram (MANDRAKE_LAB) [LOGIN REQUIRED].
